It is almost time
for the annual Covington Christmas Parade. Saturday December 5th.
at 11am is the date. As always the parade promises to offer a
variety of floats displaying any and all parts of the Holiday
Season this year. The Covington Lions Club and Main Street
Covington are again sponsoring the parade and invite any and all
who wish to join in to make plans to do so.
The Lions took the
helm some 5 years ago when it had 65 entries. Last year had
approximately 150 entries ranging from walkers, to tricycles, to
glamorous floats. To enter the parade one must send an
application with a description of their entry to the Lions Club
and remember, all entries must be decorated. Corporations and
businesses, churches, schools, clubs, civic groups, scouts
others may all start making those design plans now as the
calendar shows only 7~8 weeks before the parade takes place on
Saturday December 5th., at 11:00am.
One restriction
added this year is a limitation on the number of vehicles a
group may have. If you are entering a float, only one other
vehicle and walkers may be included. The parade has become,
shall we say, a bit too long. Music will be provided by our own
three high school marching bands, along with the U.S. Army
Quintet playing on the Square before the parade begins.
